EduPro, Swipe Card and Biometric Automatic Attendance System with Feedback Data Terminals GP Soft have partnered with Feedback-Data to provide IP based swipe card readers to integrate with our EduPro Educational Database Management Solution. How do Feedback-Data Terminals work with the EduPro database solution? The card swipe terminals are IP based, they are able to sit on your network independent of any other computer terminal. You set the required IP address for the unit, or it is possible to set them in DHCP mode to attain their addresses automatically. Swipe cards are generated through the GP Soft EduPro package and the cards are then swiped through the readers to provide attendance data for each and every student. With this system paper registeres can be phased out giving the college or school accurate attendance registers. The attendance data is stored on the card reader units and is polled either in real time or at set points throughout the working day. This data is then processed by the EduPro attendance module and accurate attendance records for each and every student or class are generated for viewing or print out. Do I need two swipe card units? One for IN swipes and one for OUT swipes? It all depends on the size of your organization and the way in which you decide to deploy the units. Some customers on larger sites who trust their students to swipe their own cards tend to have two units (one for IN and one for OUT) this is purely to organize student flow through the machines and ease congestion. The EduPro system is capable of analyzing swipe information based on time and therefore it is quite possible to use only one swipe machine for both IN and OUT data. Some customers with distributed sites may have up to 8 swipe card terminals in their central sites with thousands of students. There is no limit on the number of swipe card units GP Soft is able to deploy. On distributed sites and branch offices customers tend to deploy just one unit. I have a WAN (wide area network) can I deploy a Unit on my remote sites? GP Soft can show our customers how to typically deploy units on remote Networks. The units are totally IP based therefore the units are easy to deploy and the transfer of swipe card data causes very low bandwidth usage. Customers can even poll swipe card data over 56k dial-up connections should the need arise. How much data can one swipe card unit hold? The swipe card units can hold almost limitless amounts of attendance data; we have deployed the units in sites with over 5000 swiping students and have not polled the units for 24 hours. No loss of data occurred. Swipe card technology sounds expensive? The Feedback-Data terminals are extremely competitively priced. The costs of the units are much more competitively priced than other data capture methods such as attendance register paper scanning technology.
